Even the oil companies are more and more; present within the electric car sector. Among the most active there definitely Shell which, through its Ubitricity and NewMotion brands, manages tens of thousands of charging points throughout Europe. With the growing push towards the diffusion of electric cars & egrave; It is also necessary to rethink the structure of the energy filling stations to make the charging experience of electric users more; simple and convenient.

In this regard, Shell has recently announced the opening of a new charging station in London , in the Fulham district. The interesting aspect is that the multinational has chosen to convert an old refueling station in a modern electric car station. The work, however, did not concern only the removal of the fuel pumps with the simultaneous installation of columns. But let's go in order.

For the design of the station, Shell is & egrave; entrusted to the Bowman Riley architecture studio. For the structure & egrave; Extensive use was made of sustainable materials such as wood . The shelters that protect the charging columns and cars are covered by photovoltaic panels . We then find 9 175 kW direct current charging points powered by renewable energy. The columns should be from Tritium, a company with which Shell had signed an agreement in the past for the supply of these infrastructures.

But Shell's work did not & egrave; limited to the new design and location of the charging points. Indeed, with the aim of making the charging experience more ugrave; conveniently, inside the station we find a room with free WiFi where you can rest, a bar and a shop.

In April 2021, the oil company announced that it would installed a total of 5,000 Shell Recharge charging points in the UK by 2025, mainly at existing service stations but also at new sites. There are currently only 119 charging points at petrol stations across the country. The ultimate goal is to install 50,000 charging points in the UK again by 2025 through its subsidiaries such as Ubitricity.
