Domestic. A celestial phenomenon unusual for Stockholm – the Northern Lights – lit up the capital and the surrounding area on Friday night.

Many pictures of the unusual light phenomenon were posted on Twitter.
The Northern Lights are also reported from Jönköping the same night.
The Northern Lights occur when charged particles (electrons) such as accelerated to high energies in the earth's magnetosphere crashes into the atmosphere. It is mainly seen around the poles and is more common in Norrland, but can sometimes reach southern Sweden.
