Volkswagen Group, in 2021 sales of 100% electric models double

The Volkswagen Group is pursuing an ambitious electrification plan that we have talked about more; times. A work that is bearing fruit: the German group, in fact, has shared the sales figures for 2021 which show an important growth in BEV models. Let's see the details.

LEADER IN EUROPE IN THE BEV SEGMENT In 2021, 452,900 100% electric vehicles were delivered to customers. This is a 96% increase compared to 2020. A result that probably could have been even better had it not been for the chip crisis that slowed down the production of the cars and therefore also the deliveries.

The 100% electric models represented, in 2021, 5.1% of total deliveries (2.5% in 2020). Thanks to this important growth, the Volkswagen Group & egrave; the leader in the BEV segment in Europe . Instead, it ranks second in the United States market. In China, 92,700 BEVs were delivered in 2021, again at Group level.

The PHEV models also did well, that is; Plug-in hybrids. According to the announcement, the Volkswagen Group delivered 309,500 Plug-ins with a growth of 61%. As previously mentioned, the problem of semiconductor supply clearly affected the results of 2021. The Group, in fact, delivered 8,882,000 vehicles worldwide with a decrease of 4.5 % despite the high demand.

  • Volkswagen e-up !: 41,400 units & agrave;
  • Porsche Taycan (including the Cross Turismo): 41,300 units & agrave;
