Volvo, sales grow despite the chip crisis. Well the Recharge models

Volvo's goal is; to become an electric-only brand by 2030. The carmaker is therefore working to expand the range of electrified cars and, in particular, 100% electric ones. A job that seems to be paying off, at least from what emerges from the Swedish manufacturer's 2021 sales figures.

THE RECHARGE RANGE WELL

The carmaker closed 2021 with 698,693 cars sold globally . This is an increase of 5.6% over 2020, an interesting result given the current difficulties; of the market caused by semiconductor supply problems. In particular, as mentioned at the beginning, the electrified cars went well, that is; the Plug-ins and the electric ones. In 2021, sales of the Recharge models grew by 63.9% compared to 2020.

Overall, the cars in the Recharge range made up 27% of the volume total of the automaker's sales in 2021. As we know, Volvo also sells cars online. According to what was communicated, the number of cars sold through the Web is; increased by 316% in 2021 compared to the previous year. This increase is been driven by an increase in demand from customers together with an expansion of the offer in more markets.

Volvo also provides some data on the trend of December 2021 . The brand says it has delivered 64,436 deliveries to individuals, equal to a drop of 18.1% on 2020, a result negatively impacted by the chip crisis problem. As of December, 40% of all new Volvos were Recharge models. In Europe, the percentage of Recharge models has reached almost 60%, while in the United States it & egrave; approaching 30% of total sales volumes.

Returning to the 2021 data, in the United States , the automaker sold 122,173 cars, recording an increase of 10.9% compared to 2020. Sales in China stood at 171,676 cars, an increase of 3.0% compared to 2020. In Europe , year-to-date sales are increased by 1.8% to 293,471 cars, thanks to the strong demand for Recharge models.

The most popular model. sold globally continues to be the Volvo XC60 with 215,635 units. Followed by the XC40 and XC90.
