The Volkswagen Passat sedan says goodbye to the European market . Autocar reported that the German manufacturer stopped production of this model for the Old Continent market shortly before Christmas. The news is no longer surprising; so much since for some time there was talk of the possibility; that the sedan was eliminated. Actually, past rumors spoke of 2023.
The German brand, therefore, has decided to speed up the times. However, the variant still remains in production , the station wagon. According to the report, to push on the early stop to the production of the sedan is the most; high sales of the station wagon and both the good success of the Arteon. Volkswagen had introduced the Passat in Europe in 1973 and has been marketing it in both sedan and station wagon versions ever since. After almost 50 years of career, the sedan has had to say goodbye to the European market.
After all, the market is pushing more and more; towards SUV models. In addition, Volkswagen is working towards electrification of the range of its cars. Therefore, the German brand is rationalizing its offer . And speaking of electrification, we cannot fail to mention that the car manufacturer is working on the development of the new Aero B battery model that we have most; times seen on the road thanks to some spy photos.
This is a car based on the MEB platform that many identify as the electric successor of the Passat. Model that will come over the next few years and whose technical characteristics are not known at the moment. We know, however, that it will be; proposed in both sedan and station wagon versions. And speaking of the future of the current Passat, the new generation based on the MQB platform should arrive in 2023 and which in Europe should only be offered in the Variant version.
Second as reported in the past, the new car will be; designed to be versatile and practical, in order to differentiate itself with the Arteon which has similar dimensions but which offers greater elegance. The new model will be; built in Bratislava together with the Touareg SUV.
