In recent years, Apple has added a number of important health features to the Apple Watch. It started with the Apple Watch Series 4 and the EKG function, and then the pulse meter on the Apple Watch Series 6 was added. There have been rumors for some time that Apple would be working on all kinds of health functions, but according to Mark Gurman these will have to wait a while. No new health sensors would be added yet.

‘Apple Watch health features postponed’

The Apple Watch Series 8 is the upcoming new model this fall. Last year there were rumors that the Apple Watch would get blood glucose monitoring in 2022, but Bloomberg's Mark Gurman says it's far from that. In fact, he thinks it might not be available until the second half of this decade.

There was also a rumor about a blood pressure monitor in the Apple Watch, but according to Gurman this will take at least another two or three years. Finally, it was previously said that the Apple Watch could measure your body temperature in 2022. Rumors about this have been persistent and it would have been planned for this year as well, but Gurman now says there has been much less talk about it in the circuit recently.

What the Apple Watch Series 8 will bring, remains to be seen. Apple could focus on improving existing features. For example, there is still a lot of criticism about tracking your sleep with the Apple Watch, because the options are limited. Apple is said to be working on an improved sleep function, such as discovering sleep patterns and sleep apnea. A new design could also be a possibility, although this remains a mystery after last year's high expectations.
