Jury refuses to convict murderer – because he is black

Abroad. A black man in Florida was charged with breaking into a 59-year-old white woman's home, tying her up and stabbing her to death. But three jurors refused to convict the defendant – citing that he is sorry because he is black.

The brutal murder of Jill Su, 59, took place in September 2014 near Fort Lauderdale.

According to police, the accused man, Dayonte Resiles, broke into the woman's home . When he found Su in the home, he must have tied her up, placed her in a bathtub and stabbed her to death.

Resiles' DNA was found on a knife and inside the home.

But when the African was to be convicted of the murder in December, three of the jurors declared that they could not in good conscience pass judgment on him – despite the evidence.

– [The three jurors] say: “I do not want to cause a young black man end up in jail for the rest of his life or sentenced to death, “said the jury's female president, according to 7 News Miami.

The jury's disagreement led to the trial now having to be resumed. A new jury is being appointed, reports 7 News Miami.
