Audi Q2 is back(restyling 2021), the #untaggable, so & igrave; how it was presented and how it is still presented by the brand today. It is a model that, despite the criticisms, has had some success in Italy, with interesting sales numbers. & Egrave; clear that we are talking about a & rsquo; car dedicated to those who & egrave; willing and can & ograve; spend a large sum on a premium compact SUV. Why & eacute; as I already had; said three years ago, his only major flaw is; the price and too many optionals for a fee, even if on this aspect with the restyling things are a bit improved.
& Egrave; a car that has divided since its debut on the market and which still today, after the restyling, divides. The Q2 either you love it or you hate it, starting with the style that has always been discussed, but if you try it and drive it you might even change your mind …
Precisely for this reason, after the first brief test carried out by Luigi with the 35 TDI quattro S tronic at the debut of the restyling, I wanted to test that version, making it grind many kilometers in many different contexts.

DESIGN AND DIMENSIONS
The color of our Q2 they call it Apple Green & hellip; some like it that way too. But don't judge it for this: & egrave; only that of the test specimen and & egrave; one of the two colors proposed with the Edition One package , which can also be in Zinc Gray. If you like it, you can choose something else, from the color to the circles, if you want it more; elegant or more sporty.
What is changed out with the restyling has already it there; told Luigi, but today as in his debut, I remain of the idea that even the Q2, like many cars of this type, a bit & rsquo; high from the ground, with those huge wheel arches, if you choose it in the basic version it disappoints a lot: just think that in the entry level version it comes with 16-inch wheels as standard. With the S Line package and 19 & rdquo; & egrave; definitely a whole & rsquo; other story .
Doing a small survey among friends and colleagues, I had noticed and still notice that the taillights in this Q2 just don't like them, they collect little consensus. Maybe they could try to improve them a bit.
HABITABILITY? AND INTERNAL
Taking a closer look attentive to the passenger compartment, I understand that many were expecting a more restyling; deep: in fact the dashboard and the dashboard, I don't want to use the adjective & ldquo; old & rdquo;, but they make it look a bit disfigured & rsquo; in front of the Audi pi & ugrave; recent.
Not everyone likes style a bit; retr & ograve; of the air vents and surely someone would like to find them also behind, at least in the most set-ups; rich.
Audi-style finishes and assemblies. The upper part of the dashboard is; soft to the touch. But not all the materials chosen are up to expectations and the price: especially in the doors the quality & agrave; is not serious; the best, they could have done better.

ROAD TEST 35 TDI quattro S tronic < img src = "/wp-content/uploads/b5881771e3f09b0af55df9db236a22de.gif" />
The Q2 & egrave; just among those that you need to try, drive and perhaps the judgment could even change. To discover its strengths and weaknesses, I brought it with me on purpose for a couple of days when I had it grind almost 1000 km due to work commitments.
The driver's seat is not; bad: I would like a longer session low, but & egrave; an SUV, albeit compact, and in any case not & egrave; not too high. Whatever your size, you will find the ideal driving position. Luigi is right: everything is; handy. Good ergonomics, there is little distraction.
In the test a few years ago I had tried it with the 190 HP 2-liter turbodiesel, a fantastic engine, but which for now is no longer available; offered with the pi & ugrave; small of the Q family.
This time it is instead; on stage what & egrave; became the top of the range diesel engine, the 2.0 TDI with 150 HP , improved in terms of torque, performance and, on paper, even in consumption. And & rsquo; combined with the quattro drive and the 7-speed S Tronic dual-clutch automatic transmission.
& Egrave; certainly the choice of those who travel a lot, often on the motorway, and of those who want four-wheel drive, to feel simply more; safe or because & eacute; he often travels to hills, mountains, where there is no lack of mud and snow. If this is not the case your case, you can choose it with front-wheel drive only (and consumption will certainly improve) but always with automatic, the right choice for a car of this type.
I have tried it for a long time also in urban traffic and, even if with this engine it is not & egrave; precisely the most suitable solution; suitable for those who use the car especially in the city, it proves to be very agile, in this case also helped by the torque of the TDI, well 360 Nm . Too bad only for the visibility; rear a little & rsquo; reduced, between wide pillars and small rear window.
The torque of the diesel engine, available between 1600 and 2750 rpm , makes it very pleasant to drive even along extra-urban roads: just a little gas and the Q2 can be driven, also offering, all in all, good comfort. In this turbodiesel the power is egrave; that of before but & egrave; increased the couple, albeit slightly, & egrave; available first and makes it a bit & rsquo; more reactive. Tested more & ugrave; occasions, it pushes well even uphill.
L & rsquo; auto & egrave; well soundproofed, you can barely hear the ticking of the diesel engine in some passages; only if you accelerate fully it results a bit & rsquo; noisy, at speed; constant instead there are really no problems.
I prefer rigid cars and I'm used to them, though & ograve; with these 19-inch wheels and the sporty set-up, given the type of car, I expected them to have a bit of it. improved this aspect: asperit & agrave; and holes feel, & egrave; rather stiff, especially at the rear. Even choosing the mode Comfort driving doesn't change much; doesn't break your back but could do better.
I am for & ograve; precisely those rims and low-shoulder tires that give it an unsuspected driving precision. I'm certainly not telling you that & egrave; a sporty one but l & rsquo; I put some & rsquo; to the test by pushing a little & rsquo; more & ugrave; on the curvy roads in the Ligurian hinterland and & egrave; it was a pleasant surprise. The multilink rear suspension , intended for the most popular versions; powerful with quattro drive, they certainly help. Even putting in the Sport, the roll in the corners feels a bit & rsquo;, for & ograve; thanks to a not too high center of gravity and a rather quick steering, it is agile, despite the curb weight of 1570 kg . Even in the largest motorway curves; challenging Q2, with this set-up, it never goes too far in crisis.
On the motorway, at speed; from code, to 130 per hour, the two thousand turbodiesel & ldquo; ronfa & rdquo; at less than 2,000 rpm, all to the advantage of comfort and fuel consumption. On long journeys it is appreciated precisely for its qualities; of the engine, which is not a lightning bolt of war but it has that torque you need, it stretches quite well and resumes without problems even after the most slowdowns; I decided. The numbers are certainly not for a sportswoman, however it can; accelerate from 0 to 100 in 8.2 seconds and reach a speed; maximum of 210 km per hour . But it is not; this us & ograve; that matters.
You will also appreciate the excellent work in tune that the diesel fueled two thousand and the automatic transmission do: it remains a point in its favor. This S Tronic he knows how to be sweet, fluid, helping the Q2 to be very efficient too. But if you put it in manual, using the paddles on the steering wheel, it quickly switches from one gear to another practically without ever interrupting the thrust. Sure it would take longer; horses, but this is not; for sure the purpose of our TDI of the test. I & egrave; I also liked the braking system: the pedal modulates well and I have never seen it in difficulty.
Speaking of consumption , between city, suburban and motorway, at speed; by code, I recorded an average of just under 17 km with one liter; even pushing a lot I never managed to go below 13. In detail, in the city & agrave; suffers a little & rsquo; more & ugrave; and usually the value & egrave; about 13.5 km per liter. If you choose it with front-wheel drive you will be able to & agrave; do much better.
For those who travel a lot out of town & agrave; and grinds many kilometers & egrave; l & rsquo; ideal and then, since it debuted in 2016, c & rsquo; & egrave; who has been driving it for at least 4 years and has already traveled there; many kilometers with this TDI with automatic transmission without problems. Reliability seems on his side.
ADAS AND SECURITY
Q2 is now; even more; safe and I agree with what Luigi found: it boasts a good standard equipment.
Above all there is & rsquo; & egrave; the Pre Sense Front , which recognizes pedestrians, cyclists and vehicles; the adaptive and predictive cruise control & egrave; really effective and long journeys become decidedly more & ugrave; relaxing. It has little to envy to the & ldquo; sisters & rdquo; of the upper segments.
ON-BOARD TECHNOLOGY
The renewed Q2 & egrave; offered in 7 configurations : Q2, Admired, Business, Business plus, Admired Advanced, S line edition and Identity Black. The choice is not lacking: for sure you will find the one that suits your budget and your needs. Without forgetting the various packages such as the Edition One of ours. Now the standard equipment is; more rich: on all LED headlights, 16 & quot; alloy wheels, rear parking sensors, progressive power steering, 3-spoke leather steering wheel, MMI radio plus, two USB ports and much more.
Three i petrol engines , indeed four, and two with diesel. A 3-cylinder 1.0 with 110 hp combined with a 6-speed manual gearbox, front-wheel drive. A 150 bhp 1.5 four-cylinder engine combined with the 6-speed manual gearbox or the 7-speed S tronic automatic, front-wheel drive. Then c & rsquo; & egrave; the most & ugrave; powerful 190 hp TFSI only in the quattro version with the S tronic. And, a world apart, c & rsquo; & egrave; the SQ2 , with 300 HP, quattro drive and great performance, but which I honestly would not choose.
For those who travel a lot, the diesel & quot; entry level & quot; four cylinders now & egrave; a 116 bhp 2.0 TDI, with 6-speed manual or automatic, front-wheel drive. Then c & rsquo; & egrave; our 150 hp 2.0 TDI with S tronic, front-wheel drive or quattro.
Since we shot the video the prices are a bit & rsquo; increased: now the price list of the Q2 starts from 29,050 Euros of a 30 TFSI with the manual and in the basic version, up to 45,000 of the 40 TFSI quattro S tronic in the rich Identity Black trim. This 2.0 TDI with 150 hp S tronic with quattro drive starts at at least 38,200. The SQ2 starts at 53,450 & hellip;
ALTERNATIVES
What are the alternatives to Audi's compact SUV? Some might think of Renault Captur, Ford Puma, Peugeot 2008 or the & ldquo; cousin & rdquo; Volkswagen T-Cross. But none of them offer as much and all have much lower prices; & ldquo; human & rdquo ;, more & ugrave; bass.
Perhaps the only real rival still remains Mini Countryman : by size, offer and prices; like the Q2 & egrave; a little & rsquo; out of the chorus and more & ugrave; c & rsquo; & egrave; also plug-in hybrid. On the other hand, for the little one of the House of the Rings, for now, no electrified version: perhaps it will arrive; with the new generation. Which would you choose?
