Dutch public holidays of 2022 are missing in the Calendar app on iPhone

In the standard Calendar app on the iPhone and iPad, Apple also offers a special calendar with Dutch holidays. Think of King's Day and Liberation Day, but also the traditional holidays such as Easter and Christmas. But for some unknown reason, these holidays no longer appear in the Calendar app on both iPhone and iPad.

No holidays for 2022 in Calendar app on iPhone and iPad

These are the holidays for all of 2022 that do not appear in the Calendar app on both iPhone and iPad. Normally, Apple ensures that the holidays for the new year are uploaded in the Dutch holidays calendar well in time, so that they automatically appear in the calendars of iPhone and iPad users. But according to MacRumors, users have been complaining about missing 2022 holidays since mid-2021.

No King's Day this year?!

In any case, the problem seems to affect devices running iOS 15 and iOS 14, but devices with an older iOS version may also be affected. Funnily enough, the holidays are now visible in the Calendar app on the Mac, making it seem like the problem isn't with the shared calendar, but possibly with the Calendar app itself.

Do you see holidays in your Calendar app? Check whether it concerns Apple's holiday calendar or that of another service, such as Google or Microsoft. Apple's own holiday calendar can be found under the Other heading, which can be recognized in the screenshot above by the orange check mark.

Temporary solution
However, Apple is already working on a solution, making the holidays any time reappear in the Calendar app. But we haven't seen them yet. So a software update may be needed to really fix the problem. In the meantime, you can subscribe to an external calendar with Dutch holidays. If you have added a Microsoft or Google account to the Calendar app, they often also offer a calendar for Dutch holidays that you can enable separately. To do this, tap Calendars at the bottom of the Calendar app and check it.
