Apple surprised friend and foe last spring by opening the Find My network to other companies, even before the AirTag was officially announced. One of the first companies to participate was Chipolo, which was already known for the various Bluetooth trackers. The Chipolo ONE Spot is a special edition that works exclusively with Apple's Find My network and now the company has announced a second variant. The Chipolo CARD Spot is intended for in your wallet and has the shape of a debit card.

Chipolo CARD Spot for your wallet works with Find My

The new Chipolo CARD Spot is a black ‘card’ that you simply put in your wallet or card folder. The card is 2.4 mm thick and has a battery life of two years. So there is no replaceable battery, but Chipolo does offer a Renew & Recycle program. You will then receive a 50% discount on a new one if the battery of your current one is almost empty. It houses a speaker rated up to 105 decibels and is also water resistant with an IPX5 certification.

The great thing about this tracker is that it works exclusively with Apple's Find My app and network. This means that you can find the tracker in the Search objects tab, which also contains your AirTags. If you lose your wallet containing the Chipolo CARD Spot somewhere on the street, the tracker uses the connection with other iPhones in the area to communicate its location to you. This is done anonymously, so owners of nearby iPhones won't notice.

Chipolo doesn't say anything about it, but as far as we know, the tracker works with Bluetooth and does not contain a U1 chip.

Chipolo tracker is the Find My equivalent of the Tile Slim. That is also a flat ‘pass’ for your wallet, but it only works with Tile's app and network. The Chipolo CARD Spot is only available in black and costs €35 each. You can pre-order them now, with delivery in February. If you want to save, you can also order two for €60.
