Philip Nitschke's suicide capsule.

< Australian doctor Philip Nitschke is known to have been behind the first voluntary suicide injection in 1996.

He was recently spotted for inventing a “suicide capsule” that kills people with nitrogen gas. .

Now Nitschke proposes a new kind of suicide implant for people who are worried that they will become senile when they grow old and start forgetting things.

The implant is intended to kill the wearer in case he should forget to turn it off in time. If this happens, the implant injects a lethal dose of poison straight into the body of the wearer, who then dies immediately, reports RT.

To avoid dying, the wearer must “regularly” press a button, perhaps daily, according to the attending physician.

Philip Nitschke admits to The Independent that such a technology risks encountering “significant legal obstacles”, but he claims that the technology is an “important development” that can protect doctors from ethical dilemmas when someone with early signs of dementia request suicidal ideation.
