Carolina Falkholt, who describes herself as an artist, earns a living from tax money on scribbling large female genitals in schools and public environments, among other places.
Most recently, she received SEK 150,000 for decorate the Swedish Transport Administration's construction plank around Västlänken in Gothenburg with an open “snippet”.
The Swedish Transport Administration describes the mural in the following way on its website:
“A vagina as a portal, an opening and opportunity, far back in art history.Fertility figures in clay have been found in connection with archeological sites from human dawn and so on.In Carolina Falkholt's painting, the body is reduced to only two long legs and a vagina, as a horizon drawn in a horizontal line: the sky up there and the earth below. “
Carolina Falkholt says in an interview with Göteborgs-Posten that she has seen people turn their eyes away when they walk past her paintings. She thinks this “is good”, because art “should touch and arouse emotions”.
The genitals have been overpainted with black paint by the public.
