After describing its electrification strategy, Stellantis announced that software for the use of technology platforms of new generation. A very substantial plan to transform the way customers interact with connected vehicles. According to the automotive group, this strategy should make it possible to generate around 20 billion euros in incremental revenues by 2030. Today, digital services are more and more; important and all car manufacturers are investing in this field. Over time, these services will also allow us to open up new opportunities; of income.

STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIPS

The future vehicles of the Stellantis Group will have an “open software platform that integrates seamlessly with customers' digital lives”. There will therefore be an expansion of functionality; and innovative services, via OTA updates . Over time, therefore, the vehicles will always remain updated with the latest news; software.

Stellantis then entered into specific strategic partnerships with Foxconn and Waymo . As regards the first, in addition to the creation of the Mobile Drive joint venture, the Group has signed a new non-binding memorandum of understanding with Foxconn to get to design a family of microcontrollers specially made to support Stellantis and the third-party customers.

Collaboration is develop four families of chips that will cover over 80% of the company's microcontroller needs, helping to greatly simplify the supply chain. Given the problems arising from the current chip crisis, this is new. really very interesting. The adoption of these products on vehicles is expected to take place by 2024.

Stellantis then expanded its partnership with Waymo . The new focus is on local delivery services.

Stellantis also continues its dedicated projects with Waymo. Since & eacute; Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid equipped with Waymo Driver provide thousands of fully autonomous rides in Phoenix, Arizona (USA), Stellantis and Waymo have now expanded their partnership to local delivery services. Building on Stellantis' leadership in light commercial vehicles and investments in electrification, the partners are collaborating in working groups focused on business development. The engineering teams will get their hands on the Stellantis prototypes in 2022.

THREE NEW TECHNOLOGICAL PLATFORMS

Stellantis reported that in the next few years it will be & agrave; grow your business software and connected services through five key pillars.

  • Services and subscriptions
  • Features & agrave; On-Demand
  • Data service and dedicated services for fleets
  • Price policy and resale value
  • Customer conquest, customer loyalty and cross-selling

Today, the Group can & ograve; already rely on 12 million connected cars & quot; monetisable & quot ;. By 2026, growth of up to 26 million vehicles and approximately € 4 billion in revenues is expected. And for 2030, the goal is to have 34 million vehicles on the roads globally, equal to 20 billion in annual revenues. Stellantis explains that with the term & quot; monetizable & quot; refers to the vehicle in its first 5 years of life.

Leveraging your skills data collection, Stellantis lancer & agrave; a usage-based insurance program in 2022, offered through its captive finance divisions in Europe and North America, with the intention of expanding it globally.

Future connected vehicles of the Stellantis Group will be able to rely on three new technological platforms that will be used together with the new platforms for electric cars already; announced in the past. The arrival is expected for 2024 .

The heart of the transformation into & ldquo; customer-centric & rdquo; & egrave; the new electrical/electronic (E/E) and software architecture, STLA Brain.

Stellantis explains that STLA Brain & egrave; a service-oriented structure fully integrated with the cloud, which connects the electronic control units inside the vehicle with the car's high-performance central computer (HPC) via high-speed data. It has 30 modules and supports OTA updates.

Breaks today's link between hardware and software generations, allowing software developers to quickly create and update features and services without waiting for new hardware to be launched. These OTA updates drastically reduce costs for customers and Stellantis, simplify maintenance for the user and maintain vehicle residual values.

The second platform is; STLA SmartCockpit which was created to & quot; create a third customizable space & quot ;. As people spend part of their lives in cars, through the joint venture with Foxconn, Stellantis aims to offer applications based on Artificial Intelligence such as navigation, voice assistant, e-commerce solutions and payment services.

Finally, we have STLA AutoDrive , a platform that will allow; to offer vehicles capacity; autonomous driving of level 2, level 2+ and level 3. Platform that over time will be; constantly improved through OTA updates. Perhaps the most important thing; interesting, & egrave; that this platform is the result of a collaboration with BMW .

MORE CUSTOMIZATION

Through its software strategy, the Stellantis Group intends to offer customers a greater possibility; of personalization of their vehicles. Until now, the Group has released more; of 6 million OTA updates to its cars. The goal is that of to be able to offer at least new quarterly versions by 2026 .

Currently, Stellantis connected vehicles provide more; of three trillion data points, generating information that can be managed in a timely manner and usable. Stellantis engineers draw on this knowledge to shorten the vehicle's continuous improvement cycle, increasing customer satisfaction, with the goal of generating € 1.1 billion in efficiencies by 2030.

To carry out this new software strategy, Stellantis is creating a Software & amp; Data Academy to relocate over 1,000 internal engineers in different roles, creating a new software community. In addition, it intends to recruit the best software and AI talent from the technology industry and other sectors globally.

By 2024, the Group expects to have 4,500 software engineers. The new strategy is part of the investment of 30 billion euros by 2025 in electrification and software.
