Domestic. The Somali family cheated the Swedish Social Insurance Agency of more than SEK 12 million in assistance compensation. The principal, who turned out to be able to walk unhindered when he was going on holiday to the home country he fled from, gets four years in prison.

In reconnaissance videos from October 2020, the now 52-year-old man was miraculously seen walking around without help at Arlanda when he was to fly to his native Somalia.
Between 2014 and 2021, he cheated, and family members who was employed as “personal assistants” for him, to him over SEK 12 million from the Swedish Social Insurance Agency in assistance compensation.
The 52-year-old managed to get a physiotherapist and an occupational therapist to certify that he needed personal assistance throughout his waking hours . He stated that he could not move indoors independently, that he could not control his legs and feet and that he could not even sit without help. Outdoors, he moved with an electric wheelchair.
Today, he was sentenced to four years in prison for a felony. Four other people who have been assistants to that man are convicted in the same vein, among other things for a serious benefit violation. Two of them receive shorter prison sentences and the other two were sentenced to probation.
The 52-year-old has been granted Swedish citizenship and can therefore not be deported to his home country with current legislation.
