Die Verschlüsselungssoftware VeraCrypt, eine Abspaltung („Fork“) des im Jahr 2014 eingestellten TrueCrypt, unterstützt in der neuesten Version 1.25 erstmals überhaupt Apple Silicon und dessen ARM-Prozessoren M1 sowie M1 Pro und M1 Max nativ. Dafür fallen jetzt macOS 10.7 Lion und 10.8 Mountain Lion aus dem Support heraus.
Support für Apple Silicon und Windows on ARM
Neben der nativen Unterstützung der drei Systems-on-a-Chip von Apple erhält die freie Verschlüsselungssoftware jetzt auch Unterstützung für Windows on ARM, wobei die Entwickler hier als Beispiel das Microsoft Surface Pro X (Benchmarks) nennen, und einen verbesserten Installer. Die Windows-Version setzt jetzt mindestens Windows 10 voraus, während der Support für Windows 7, 8 und 8.1 fallengelassen wurde.
Produktpflege auf allen Plattformen
Die offiziellen Release Notes listen zudem zahlreiche Fehlerkorrekturen und Optimierungen, wie beispielsweise eine bessere Lokalisierung, für VeraCrypt 1.25 unter Windows 10 und 11, macOS und Linux sowie FreeBSD und OpenBSD, das ebenfalls erstmals unterstützt wird.

Fix freeze when password dialog displayed in secure desktop and try to access token keyfiles protected by PIN.
Fix failure to launch keyfile generator in secure desktop mode.
Block Windows from resizing system partition if it is encrypted.
Add keyboard shortcut to "TrueCrypt mode" in the mount dialog.
MACOS:
