With a smart plug you can easily connect your Christmas tree to HomeKit, but if you really want to do it right, it is easier to immediately use Christmas lights with HomeKit. Light manufacturer Twinkly now has HomeKit. The company specializes in all kinds of decorative lighting, including for Christmas.

Twinkly with HomeKit

Twinkly's range includes light hoses (both strips and traditional garlands), lights for the tree and also lights in the shape of a Christmas tree. It already worked with Alexa, Google Assistant and Homey, but from firmware version 2.8.3 it also has support for HomeKit and Siri. It also requires the latest version of the Twinkly app.

After installing the latest firmware, you can link the Twinkly lamps to HomeKit via your lamp's settings screen in the Twinkly app. There you will find a HomeKit button with the corresponding HomeKit code. Tap on Add device to Home and the lamp will be placed in the Home app for HomeKit. Then you choose the room it should be in and give the lamps a name. You will also find instructions on how to connect the lighting on the website.

HomeKit support is only for the second generation Twinkly lamps and Twinkly Plus. Thanks to HomeKit support, you can take the Twinkly lights into scenes with other HomeKit accessories and turn them on and off with Siri. You can adjust the brightness and set the color via the Home app. Keep in mind that in the Home app you can only choose one color per accessory.

Twinkly products are available at Bol.com, among others.
