It was in October 2020 that the man wrote on Twitter that he had “tipped the bullshit” about Jonna Sima's place of residence. “Subban will get his soon,” he continued.

The man defended himself by saying that the post was taken out of context and that it was written in affection after Jonna Sima wrote positively about immigration. His intention was not to threaten with violence, according to the man.

Attunda District Court believes, however, that it is “much closer at hand to perceive the message as a threat of a criminal act against Sima or her family”, writes Journalisten.

According to the court, the threat is extra serious because it was directed at Sima as a journalist with “socially important tasks”.

However, the man escapes with a suspended sentence because he has previously been unpunished. He will pay SEK 5,000 to Jonna Sima.

– The verdict is about journalism and freedom of expression, it is in principle very important, she says. It will be nice to now be able to leave this behind me, says Jonna Sima to Journalisten.
