Cultural news. During the autumn, the rock group Metallica's self-titled black album “Metallica” from 1991 again topped the charts. But that the album's biggest hit Nothing Else Matters would be accepted by the band, the singer and songwriter James Hetfield was far from sure when it went.

– This was in the late 80's when we had built up an image as tough guys made of stone, completely invulnerable and so on, says Hetfield during a performance of the song together with the pop star Miley Cyrus in the radioman Howard Stern's talk show, where a celebration was held on the album's 30th anniversary.

– So I was shocked when Bob Rock (the band's producer) and Lars (Ulrich, the band's Danish drummer) both said: This is beautiful. It's a great song. It was an experience that changed my life, says Hetfield.

The album, often called The Black Album, is the band's most commercially successful. It reached number one on the Billboard charts in 1991 and was best known for its two major ballads, “Nothing Else Matters” and “The Unforgiven”, which are still the band's most popular songs.
