iPhone and Apple Watch will allow us in the future to ask for help in case we are involved in a traffic accident , by automatically dialing the national emergency number. The Wall Street Journal reports it. For the detection of accidents, iPhone and Apple Watch will use the cross data detected by the various motion sensors they are equipped with, including the accelerometer and the gyroscope, measuring stops caused by sudden impacts.

Apple, we recall, already has; integrated into the Watch a feature; able to detect accidental falls and to automatically send requests for help in the event of a non-response to the notification requesting the state of health. With the latest iOS release, stability is also evaluated; of walking through algorithms which, by controlling balance, strength and gait, send a notification in the event that the stability; decrease or stay low.

Apple is currently working on the development of this feature, called “ crash detection '', with the expectation of integrating it into iOS over the next year although, as reported, the release times may change, or Apple may even decide to do not release it if it does not reach the desired operating standards.

Furthermore, this feature would represent a step towards that project called & quot; IronHeart & quot; which would aim to expand the functionality of CarPlay to offer greater integration with cars on the market, also controlling air conditioning, audio system and digital instrumentation.

According to the WSJ, Apple would have carried out tests on this function of detection of the crashes by collecting shared data anonymously. IPhones and Apple Watches they would already have; detected over 10 million suspected vehicle crashes , of which over 50,000 that also included a call to the rescue service.

All data from calls made to the emergency number would be used to improve the precision of the algorithm. An emergency call following a possible impact, in fact, reinforces the hypothesis that there has actually been an accident. The documents viewed by the WSJ, however, do not specify how users share information.

This feature would not be the first seen on a smartphone. Already in recent years, we recall, Google had also implemented a similar function on the Pixel that is also offered through some applications on the application stores obtained, according to the developers, from position detection and artificial intelligence.
