At the EU Committee's meeting on 20 October, it was decided that the government as a Swedish position at the forthcoming EU summit would state that Swedish and European nuclear power should be classified as sustainable according to the Taxonomy Ordinance.

“Despite “this decision was announced by the Prime Minister that he did not intend to follow the EU Committee's decision. At the feedback from the European Council meeting in the House, the Prime Minister confirmed that he had not stated that nuclear power would be classified as sustainable”, the Sweden Democrats write in a press release.

< p> – The EU Committee's decision should therefore, unless there are special reasons, always be the basis for what the Swedish representative presents in the Council, says Martin Kinnunen (SD), group leader in the EU Committee.

He continues:

– The composition of the EU Committee has also been the same for a long time and the majority conditions should thus have been well known to the government, which should not reasonably be free to choose which mandate they should follow or not follow. What the Prime Minister has presented as an excuse for not presenting what the EU Committee has ordered him to do should therefore be irrelevant.
