In September the Toyota Yaris Cross debuted on the market and we requested and wanted it immediately, to test and try it. In theory, the recipe for Toyota appears very simple. You take one of the more cars loved by Italians, the Toyota Yaris maintains an efficient hybrid engine and raises it from the ground to make it an SUV. AESTHETICS AND MEASURES

Let's start with order and first talk about its aesthetics and its design . The Toyota Yaris Cross is not; a simple Yaris raised off the ground or, simply, with pi & ugrave; light space between her and the asphalt. It has a less edgy and dynamic appearance, with rounded shapes that connect with each other, especially at the front. Of course, the tail is more inspired by the younger sister, with some angularity; in addition, a hint of spoiler that emphasizes dynamism & agrave; of the car body and the optical group that crosses the whole tail.

She & egrave; more bigger and more spacious. It is 418 cm long, 176 cm wide and 160 cm high, in short, measures that allow it to compete on the same stage as the B-SUV renowned as Puma and Captur but, to juggle such a crowded segment, the Yaris Cross relies heavily on spaciousness; and on the optimization of spaces. THE BAGGAGE

Here, there is; a flat base with the possibility; of a double bottom , no step at the entrance, rings useful to hold the boot in place and regular shapes to be able to stow our luggage in the best possible way. THE ENGINE

In my company there is the hybrid engine of Toyota, the three-cylinder 1.5 petrol with 92 HP and 120 Nm of torque that goes hand in hand with the unit & agrave; electric placed also in front and that allows to develop more & ugrave; 80 hp and 141 Nm of torque. The system, as a whole, is; capable of transmitting 116 HP to the front wheels.

As I anticipated & egrave; Also present is the all-wheel drive which adds another 5.3 HP and 52 Nm electric motor on the rear axle but which, honestly, I did not feel the need for , neither for the general safety of the car nor to give it that extra power. In my opinion, the front-wheel drive alone allows it to conquer the urban jungle and beyond, even some dirt roads that are not too complicated and impervious.


DRIVING FEEL

The Toyota Yaris Cross & egrave; an SUV that favors driving comfort . It has a soft buoyancy but that does not mean that it is mollacciona. I do not find that there is a particularly emphasized roll or lying down, it remains composed while managing to digest the roughness very well; of the road surface.

The steering wheel is; communicative and conveys every sensation well. Only by accelerating too much and throwing it through the curves with vehemence will you put it in difficulty. The message he sends you & egrave; clear. “I'm not a sports car, you have to drive me right”.


CONSUMPTION AND PRICE

I do you consume ? In about 500 kilometers spent in his company and facing a mix of cities, on the highway, the on-board computer has given me a consumption of 5 liters per 100 km . Really not bad. But there is to say that I used the light foot these days.
