In the weekly App Missed section you can read which apps from the past week are worth checking out. We always discuss about five apps for iPhone, iPad and Mac. These could be apps that you may not have known about or that are useful or just fun to try. And that can also be veterans who have received a major update and therefore receive some extra attention.

iCulture App of the Week: Mapper Users of Apple Maps will recognize it: you google an address or place and Google will show you what you were looking for. You tap on the address, but then suddenly the web version of Google Maps opens. Very frustrating, because you just want to navigate with the app you are used to. There is Mapper for those situations.

Mapper is an extension for Safari that automatically redirects you to Apple Maps when you tap a Google Maps link in Safari. We have tested the app and it works very well. The app scans a page for links to Google Maps and replaces it with Apple Maps links. The developer also plans to release a version for the Mac.

Townscaper

Looking for the perfect way to relax? As far as we're concerned, that's Townscaper. This game (which isn't really a game) lets you build a city without performance pressure or objectives. Just build. The artificial intelligence in the app makes sure everything is right, so you can just relax. In our review of Townscaper you can read what we think of the app. Spoiler: we love it!

HomeLog

HomeLog is intended for people who want to debug their HomeKit system. If you have a lot of devices in your house with a lot of automations, it can be quite difficult to find out where the error is if your lights come on too early, for example. HomeLog can show you that this was, for example, due to a sensor that reacted to movement. The app lets you filter certain logs if you're sure where the problem should be. A disadvantage is that the app has to run in the foreground if you want to use it on your iPhone. The Mac version runs invisibly in the background, so it's less distracting.

Cent

It can be useful in many cases to calculate percentages in all kinds of ways, but many people only know the basics. Cent is an app for your Mac that can help you. Simply enter two numbers and Cent will answer all questions related to percentages with those two numbers. That saves you googling for that one website that can calculate it for you. Cent does not cost a cent, but you can make a voluntary donation to the developer.

Prizmo 5

Prizmo has been one of the better known apps for scanning documents for years. The latest update not only brings support for iOS 15 with associated design changes, but also new features. For example, there is a new annotation function. This one works with and without Apple Pencil. You can change or delete your notes later. Furthermore, the latest update of Prizmo offers improved photo quality, but still with small files.
