Let's talk about Apple Car, the project that Apple would be carrying out to enter the automotive sector with its electric car . If it & egrave; discussed a lot in recent months especially thanks to dozens of reports that have tried to tell about the evolution of this company initiative American. Now, there are news; and whether the Reuters report & egrave; correct, Apple would be finding in a stalemate regarding the search for a supplier for batteries .

Cupertino would like to use cells of the LFP type ( lithium-iron-phosphate) for the accumulators of its cars but it seems that the main producers of these batteries are not willing to accept the conditions of the American company.

NOTHING TO DO WITH CATL AND BYD

In in particular, Apple was talking to CATL and BYD for the supply of these cells. According to the report, CATL would be reluctant to build a factory in the United States due to political tensions between Washington and Beijing and costs. Furthermore, for the Chinese company it would be impossible to create a team dedicated only to Apple due to the difficulty; in finding sufficient staff.

BYD, on the other hand, already has; a plant for the production of LFP batteries in America and precisely in California. However, it would have refused to build a new factory with staff dedicated exclusively to Apple. However, the report highlights that Cupertino would not have given up hope of being able to restart dialogues with these realities. LFP batteries would be very important for the Apple Car project as more & ugrave; cheap to produce .

ENTER THE PANASONIC SCENE?

Discussions with CATL and BYD are therefore stalled. Apple, however, would have started looking around for an alternative. It seems that Cupertino has taken into consideration the Japanese manufacturers and, in particular, Panasonic which has expertise with practically all types of batteries. Precisely for this reason, Apple would already have; sent a team to Japan last month to start discussions. Curiously, in September there was also speculation of a possible involvement of Toyota. Could the two news items be connected in some way?

Like all reports involving Apple Car, this too must be taken with due caution . Apple, BYD and Panasonic declined to comment on this news. CATL, on the other hand, has made it known that it is still evaluating the possibility; to open a factory in North America.

Possible delays in the supply of batteries could further hinder and delay the development of Apple's project.
