Weekly review and outlook: A hanging smartwatch and Windows 11 again

In the 41st week of 2021, the Amazfit GTR 3 Pro was a smartwatch in the focus of the articles, which scored in the test with many good attachments as well as good workmanship and optics. However, there were problems again with the software, which, like the predecessors of Amazfit, cannot convince.

The operation of the GTR 3 Pro is not always fluid and has to struggle with hang-ups from time to time. The firmware update installed shortly before the launch improved the situation, but could not completely eliminate the weaknesses. The measurement of vital data does not always work reliably either. The Amazfit GTR 3 Pro can score with a price of 200 euros, around 100 euros less than competing models.

A huge graphics card 2nd place

The test of the Asus GeForce RTX 3070 Noctua OC Edition made it into second place. In collaboration with Noctua, Asus designed a cooler that is simply huge. The graphics card consistently achieved very good results in the test. Not only are the temperatures in the basement, the noise level is extremely low and almost inaudible when gaming, even after overclocking. Such a good cooler has not yet been tested, so the Asus graphics card has won the ComputerBase recommendation.

Windows 11 and the installation are an ongoing topic

In terms of reports, the topic of Windows 11 and the compulsion to use TPM made it to first place again. The popular system tool Rufus now offers the option of adapting a system image of Windows 11 in such a way that various specifications and constraints such as TPM 2.0, Secure Boot and 4 GB of RAM are not required for the installation media created with it. To enable this, Rufus version 3.16 must be installed. The corresponding settings are made with just one click via the UI of Rufus 3.16, assuming a compatible system image of Windows 11.

The original Xbox made it to second place. Because as Seamus Blackley, the “father of the Xbox”, announced on Twitter, the console, which was released in 2002, should actually have appeared with an AMD processor. It was only shortly before the presentation that Microsoft decided to use an Intel CPU. The decision was made so quickly that during the presentation the demonstrations were still running on the AMD version and some developer kits were also equipped with an AMD CPU.

Many technology tests of games are pending

In the next few weeks there will be a corresponding number of technology tests including benchmarks on the computer base due to various new games being introduced. The next week will be dominated by articles from “older” games that appeared a few weeks ago. Technology tests on Alan Wake Remastered, Diablo 2 Resurrected and Kenya: Bridge of Spirits are expected to appear.
