The HomePod is still not Apple's dreamed success. After its release in 2018 in the first group of countries, Apple pulled the original HomePod off the shelves earlier this year. Currently, the HomePod mini is the only model available, although the number of countries is still limited. For example, we are waiting in the Netherlands and Belgium. still on the arrival of the HomePod and unfortunately there is no idea yet whether that will happen soon. Meanwhile, Apple is not sitting still, because new functions and perhaps new models are still being worked on. To give the HomePod the further push in the right direction, Apple has appointed a new software boss, Bloomberg reports.

HomePod has new software boss

Afrooz Family is according to sources the new leader when it comes to HomePod software. Earlier, Apple merged the hardware teams of the Apple TV and HomePod. The HomePod's operating system is therefore based on tvOS, although each system has its own unique functions. With this new appointment, Apple would like to give the HomePod an extra boost, so that they can compete with Amazon and Google. These two companies still dominate the smart speaker market.

The HomePod is praised for its good sound quality, but is not nearly as smart as other smart speakers. Although Siri is built-in, the HomePod has much fewer options in terms of software functions than other speakers. Hopefully that will change with the appointment of Afrooz Family. He also worked at Apple from 2012 to 2016 and has also contributed to the first HomePod. Last month, Apple released HomePod software update 15, which includes a number of new features and improvements.

It is still unclear whether Apple plans a new HomePod speaker in the short term. has. In the longer term, Apple would like to combine the Apple TV and the HomePod into one product.
