A few days before the next Apple event under the motto “Unleashed”, new, more concrete rumors emerge about the expected innovations. Accordingly, the webcams of the MacBook Pro 14 and 16 should be upgraded and the basic equipment should be identical. The mini LED displays could offer 120 Hz.

MacBook Pro with 1080p webcam

According to new rumors, the basic configuration of the new MacBook Pro with 14 and 16 inches should be identical and, in addition to an identical M1X SoC from Apple, consist of 16 gigabytes of RAM and a 512 gigabyte SSD. Also relevant for many users due to numerous video conferences, the models should also rely on a significantly better webcam: the first 1080p webcams in MacBooks ever.

The mini-LED display of both models should also enable significantly narrower edges and Apple should dispense with the lettering below the display. A new power supply, which will probably offer a magnetic MagSafe connection again, has been speculated for some time.

120 Hz and higher resolutions

Ross Young also wants to know that Apple could also use displays with a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz in the new notebooks for the first time, as used in the iPhone 13 Pro and the iPad Pro, which dynamically adapt them depending on the screen content and movements to increase battery life. In macOS 12 Monterey, however, there are no references to such functionality in the beta versions.

In Apple's new operating system, however, the alleged resolutions of the displays have already leaked, which are said to be 3,456 × 2,234 and 3,024 × 1,964 pixels, which would result in a pixel density of 250 ppi. The current MacBook Pro with Intel CPU offers 3,072 × 1,920 pixels at 226 ppi.

Mac mini with M1X?

It is also speculated that the Mac mini will also receive a refresh and the new M1X SoC. Whether the little information on this suggests that it will not come to this on Monday remains to be seen.

Chip deficiency could also be worse at Apple strike through

Apple is said to have already reduced the production targets for the iPhone due to the lack of chips, but it remains to be seen how the tense situation will affect the other devices.
