– The developed countries must live up to their commitments if we are to have a chance to jointly limit global emissions at the required rate, says Prime Minister Stefan Löfven.

According to the government The world is in an “acute climate crisis” where the richer countries have a “special responsibility” to contribute to developing countries' climate change.

– With a doubling of climate aid, Sweden is showing even stronger leadership in the climate issue, says Per Bolund, Minister of the Environment and Climate.

Since 2014, the government has more than tripled its climate assistance, which in 2019 amounted to SEK 7.5 billion. A sum that will now be doubled again.
