Intel's discrete graphics cards, which are expected to come onto the market under the branding Intel ARC in 2022, shouldn't have a mining brake when they are released. This was confirmed by Raja Koduri and Roger Chandler in an interview with the website Gadgets 360. The graphics cards should “simply be available to everyone”.

None Mining brake for Intel ARC

According to this, the graphics cards based on the Intel Xe HPG microarchitecture with the code name “Alchemist” – formerly “DG2” – should be optimized Addressed to gamers and developers, unlike the GPUs with “Light Hash Rate” (LHR) alias GeForce RTX 3000 2.0, but do not have a special mining brake that curbs the siphoning off of crypto currencies such as Ethereum.

Intel's GPUs are also running out

Raja Koduri and Roger Chandler are already saying that they cannot promise that there will be enough supplies when the Arc GPUs are expected to hit the market in early 2022.

Due to the high demand, I cannot guarantee that there will be enough supplies. The same is probably true for the competition.

Raja Koduri, Intel

At the earliest in the first quarter of 2022, Intel will be offering a total of four products for both the desktop PC and the also come onto the market for notebooks, which will later be replaced by the subsequent generations “Battlemage”, “Celestial” and “Druid”.

Intel interprets custom designs differently

In an interview with Gadgets360, Intel also confirmed that the company will allow custom designs for its solutions in addition to a reference design. In the end, however, these could look quite different from today's partner cards.

We provide the designs that our partners need, to really accelerate and differentiate based on our products. Whether it is comparable to what is on the market today, we will not go into further.
