Domestic. The Göta Court of Appeal today announced its verdict against Tamim Sultani, who was convicted in the district court for seven cases of attempted murder in Vetlanda in March this year. The Court of Appeal also convicts Sultani of attempted murder in seven cases and the sentence is set at life imprisonment. Unlike the district court, the Court of Appeal has concluded that it has been proven that the Afghan's direct intention was to kill his victims.

At the main hearing in the Court of Appeal, Tamim Sultani did not question that he had attacked the seven plaintiffs with a knife and caused the damage that the prosecutor claimed.

The Afghan mainly wanted the Court of Appeal to examine whether there had been a concrete risk of that one of the plaintiffs could have died as a result of the knife violence. Sultani also claimed that he had not intended to kill. He also wanted the Court of Appeal to sentence him to a shorter term instead of life imprisonment.

However, the Court of Appeal agrees with the district court's assessment that there has been a concrete danger to the completion of the crimes, ie that each of the plaintiffs would die.

until it is proven that the man had so-called intent to commit the crimes, that is, that his direct intention was to kill the plaintiffs, says Court of Appeal lawyer Linda Hallstedt in a statement.

The man will therefore be convicted of attempted murder. in seven cases.

– With regard to the penalty, the penalty value for each of the crimes is higher than what the district court concluded and the reason for this is that the man acted with intent and that there are aggravating circumstances, Linda continues Hallstedt.

The Court of Appeal also concludes that the penalty value for the seven attempted murders for which the man is convicted corresponds to life imprisonment. The Court of Appeal also confirms the district court's decision that the man shall be deported and that he shall pay damages to each of the seven plaintiffs. The Court of Appeal agrees.
