Domestic. The police in western Sweden have investigated an extensive case of serious sexual abuse of children. The suspect left a DNA sample that resulted in a hit on a aggravated child rape 16 years ago.

In September last year, a man was arrested in Halland, suspected of several sexual crimes against children in various places in Sweden.
It was the origin of an extensive investigative work, including IT forensic investigations, reviews of pictures and films where children are abused. Several investigators and IT forensics have been working on the case over the past year.
When the man's mobile phone was seized, the police discovered an advanced file system with the names of young girls that could be identified afterwards. The girls were 10-12 years old when the abuse took place, the youngest only eight years old.
The girls are suspected of having been raped either online or in isolated cases when the man physically hit the girls.
Among other things, the man is said to have threatened to spread nude pictures further if the children did not send him more pictures and films.
The man is now being prosecuted at Varberg District Court for a total of 34 charges, mainly several cases of rape of children, gross exploitation of children for sexual posing and sexual harassment.
The indictment also includes a serious child pornography offense, as he had over 1,350 photographs and films, of which about 480 are judged to be gross material.
The man who is in 35 -year-old has been in custody since September 17 last year. During the investigation, the police took a DNA sample on him, which resulted in a case of a rape in Östergötland in 2005, when a nine-year-old girl was raped under death threats in a forest area.
In the police interrogations, the arrested man has denied to have done something criminal.
According to the police investigation, this is a systematic search for contact via the internet that has led to children being sexually abused.
