One kilowatt hour of electricity can cost seven kroner this winter

Economics. Paying SEK 5 per kilowatt hour for electricity is not impossible this winter, according to experts that SvD spoke to. For households, this means in practice SEK 7 per kilo & shy; watt hour when taxes, network fee and VAT have been added.

For ten years, Sweden has four different electricity areas, where it there are different high electricity prices. The purpose was to make electricity more expensive in southern Sweden to increase the incentives for new production of electricity there, but instead, as is well known, Barsebäck has been closed.

In northern Sweden, the variable electricity price has been 96 öre per kilowatt hour on average, but 140 öre in the southernmost electricity area. On Thursday, the average price for electricity in southern Sweden was SEK 2.24, which was a new record.

– I expect new records. If it is a wolf winter, it can in principle go as high as you like and SEK 3, 4 or 5 per kilowatt hour is not impossible for individual days, says Christian Holtz, electricity market analyst at Merlin & amp; Metis, to SvD Näringsliv.

Five kronor means seven kronor when tax, network fee and VAT have been added.

Should the prices last for several weeks and not just below individual peaks, one can villa that consumes 2,500 kilowatt hours a month get a monthly electricity bill of 17,500 kronor this winter.

Ola Ringdahl, CEO of the industrial giant Lindab, also tells Di TV that his company is now looking at other places for future production, because electricity prices are simply too high. He also expects a blackout for electricity to his industry in the future.
