Domestic. A man in his 30s, who was previously elected by the Moderates in a municipality in Västra Götaland, has been arrested on probable cause on suspicion of 19 aggravated rapes.

The suspected crimes must have been committed during the years 2015-2017 at a nursing home in western Sweden, where the man worked then.
– It is such a sensitive situation in the investigation that I do not can go into details about how many plaintiffs there are or what connections they have to the suspect, says chamber prosecutor Hediye Kurt to SVT Nyheter Väst.
He is also suspected of child pornography crimes.
The man has previously been involved in the Moderate youth union, Muf, and had positions of trust for the Moderates in the municipality in question. Among other things, he was a jury member in the Court of Appeal.
In June 2019, the man was sentenced to 1.5 years in prison for aggravated theft, drug offenses and receiving. He had then stolen jewelery, cash and other items from elderly people he visited in his work in the home care service.
The man denies the crime.
