iPhone 13 costs you two weeks of work

The Dutch have to work an average of 73.1 hours to save the iPhone 13, while Belgians are slightly less well off with 86.0 hours. With a 40-hour work week, that comes down to around two weeks. The researchers looked at the 128GB version of the iPhone 13. In some countries you have to work for months to get a shiny new iPhone on the street: in the Philippines, for example, you work 775.3 hours to put together the iPhone 13. save, or nearly a hundred days. Also in India (724.2 hours) and Brazilë (690.5 hours) the iPhone is out of reach for many people. In Europe, Hungary (265.0 hours) and Poland (254.7 hours) stand out as exceptions. Wages are relatively low in these countries.

The iPhone 13 prices are the same as last year, but you get more storage, better cameras and other improvements. As with everything, iPhones are not evenly distributed worldwide. There are countries where you pay much less for the iPhone 13, while there are also countries where the device is relatively expensive. Brazilë is usually the most expensive country, because of the high taxes and other levies, but in Turkey you also have to put a lot of money into your pocket.

A gigantic disclaimer applies to the table below: local taxes and other levies have not been taken into account, so that the American prices in particular always seem very cheap. The same goes for Canada. Countries where it is customary to communicate prices including VAT (such as European countries) therefore always seem relatively expensive. That's why we've crossed out the prices for the US and Canada, because it's not a fair comparison.

However, Money Supermarket's research looks at something else: how long you have to work to buy an iPhone 13. “We searched the Apple website for the cost of an iPhone 13 (128GB) in several countries”, Money Supermarket writes, “and used the median annual salary for each country to calculate how many hours people would have to work to get an iPhone. iPhone 13.”

In Hong Kong the prices are very low and you can collect your iPhone 13 in 7 days. But you're best off in Switzerland, where you've almost earned back your iPhone in just four days. The calculations are based on an 8-hour working day. To keep the comparison fair, an average tax was calculated for the US and Canada.

The iPhone 13 will officially go on sale on September 24 in the Netherlands, Belgium. and 29 other countries. An additional 15 countries will be added in October.
