Stellantis is testing its new system ADAS in North America, driving aids for the driver, with l & # 39; use of a connection to the 5G network and the cloud , useful for exchanging data between vehicles and infrastructures. More specifically, the Group is carrying out some stress tests on the MEC platform (Multi-access Edge Computing) and with Safety Cloud technology.

Thanks to a network connection, the new vehicle systems will be able to upload the events and dangers that have occurred, for example, in a parking lot or at a particularly busy intersection, in the cloud, so as to save the information on the web and make it available to other cars. Subsequently, the other cars, based on the MEC platform, will be able to download the data and warn their driver of imminent dangers or obstacles on the route through some notification alerts. In short, in a nutshell, Stellantis aims to create some connected and common scenarios .

IN COLLABORATION WITH GREAT NAMES IN THE TECH WORLD

In collaboration with 5G Automotive Association (5GAA ) , which also includes Intel, Verizon, Harman, Altran, Telus and American Tower, Stellantis is trying to understand how a connected vehicle can communicate effectively to its driver, but also to the other protagonists of the road, the possible dangers and obstacles that we may encounter on our journey.

The tests of the Stellantis vehicles will be conducted at the Mcity Test Facility of the University; of Michigan and then move to Detroit, with the collaboration of the Michigan Department of Transportation. Two Jeep Wrangler 4xe with plug-in engines and equipped with the Uconnect infotainment system will be used for the initial tests. Subsequently the tests will be carried out with some Dodges. The technology of the MEC platform is expected to be rolled out nationwide within the next decade.
