Pin at Geldmaat without a card
More and more cards can be removed from your wallet, so that even the Apple Wallet case could become empty. You no longer need to have the bank card within reach if you are an ABN AMRO customer. They are the first major bank to offer the possibility to withdraw money with the ABN AMRO app on your smartphone.
It works as follows: you scan the QR code on the ATM, after which the ABN AMRO app will be opened. There you log in with the identification code, facial recognition or fingerprint. You choose your current account and the amount on the machine, and then confirm the transaction.
Geldmaat are the new ATMs of the well-known Dutch banks. Since 2019, a start has been made on replacing the ATMs of ABN AMRO, ING and Rabobank with the striking yellow Geldmaat. It is therefore slightly different from the ATMs in tourist spots, which are provided with large letters ‘ATM’.
The Geldmaat ATMs have been introduced because we pay less and less with cash and therefore also withdraw less money. As a result, the use of ATMs is decreasing and it is no longer profitable to have separate ATMs from ABN AMRO, ING and Rabobank in the same street or village. De Geldmaat ensures that everyone can still withdraw money and that entrepreneurs can deposit money via Geldmaat's ATMs.
Nothing changes for users: you can still withdraw money or check your balance with your own bank card – and now also with your iPhone.
