Xiaomi is adding the 11T and 11T Pro to the 11 series – the “Mi” in the name is no longer applicable. The T models are not direct successors to the Mi-11 series, but rather cheaper alternatives offered in parallel. There is an update guarantee for the new smartphones and the 11T Pro charges Xiaomi with up to 120 watts.

The 11T is due on October 1st in the colors Meteorite Gray, Moonlight White and Celestial Blue with 8 GB/128 GB come on the market in Germany at a price of 549.90 euros, with 8 GB/256 GB it costs 599.90 euros. The launch of the 11T Pro is planned for the same day for 649.90 euros and 699.90 euros respectively in the same memory configurations. Xiaomi wants to enable pre-orders during the day and give first buyers a Mi Watch (119.99 euros) free of charge while stocks last.

OLED displays with 120 Hz and 1,000 cd/m²

The two new smartphones have a very similar structure, they combine the 76.9 × 164.1 × 8.80 mm housing with a flat display and a fingerprint sensor embedded in the power button. The OLED screens are each 6.67 inches in size, offer stretched Full HD resolution and, with a peak of 1,000 cd/m², are also designed for HDR10 +. However, only the 11T Pro also offers support for Dolby Vision.

Triple camera with “Hollywood effects”

11T and 11T Pro are equipped with a rear triple camera, which is divided into sensors with 108 megapixels for wide-angle, 8 megapixels for ultra-wide-angle and 5 megapixels for tele-macro recordings. Xiaomi summarizes new features in the field of video recordings under the term “Cinemagic”. What is meant by this are AI-supported “Hollywood effects”, which are intended to attract the attention of followers, especially on social media. The features also include video recordings in 4K including HDR10 + – at least for the 11T Pro. There is again an audio zoom for both smartphones, which can also be used to zoom in on the image.

Qualcomm and MediaTek supply the SoCs

The image and video processing of the 11T Pro is done by an “old” friend from the Mi-11 series: the Snapdragon 888 from Qualcomm. For the cheaper 11T, Xiaomi has used the MediaTek portfolio and relies on the Dimensity 1200 with Cortex-A78 cores, which is also used in the OnePlus Nord 2 (test), among other things. The higher-performance Qualcomm chip in the 11T Pro should also be responsible for the fact that features such as 4K including HDR and even 8K are supported there. However, the storage configurations and areas such as 5G support are identical.

Charging with 120 watts for the 11T Pro

The 11T Pro then sets itself apart from the 11T with the new “HyperCharge” charging standard, which should be able to complete a full charge process in just 17 minutes with up to 120 watts. The battery can be charged from 2 percent to 72 percent in just 10 minutes. Xiaomi relies on a two-cell battery structure, such as that used by OnePlus for fast charging. The company has had itself certified by TÜV Rheinland that the battery level should still reach 80 percent after 800 charging cycles.

Three Android upgrades planned

Xiaomi announced at the beginning of the month that it would issue an update guarantee for the 11T and 11T Pro for the first time. Three Android upgrades are planned in addition to the already installed Android 11 including MIUI 12.5 and four years of security updates from the availability of the smartphone. Buyers can expect updates to the upcoming Android 12 as well as Android 13 and 14 in the coming years.
