With the motif A.N.C. and Minor III, Marshall Headphones is launching two new wireless in-ear headphones. While the Motif A.N.C. with a short stem and ANC reminiscent of the AirPods Pro, the Minor III are similar to the AirPods.

ANC and transparency mode can be adjusted

The Motif A.N.C. As the name suggests, it offers active noise suppression that the cheaper Minor III does without. With the associated app, the user can not only hear the sound of the Motif A.N.C. with an equalizer, but also influence the active noise suppression and the transparency mode.

USB-C and wireless charging

< p class = "p text-width">The battery life of the Motif A.N.C. should be 4.5 hours with activated ANC, which is extended to 20 hours by the charging case. Without ANC, they should last up to 6 hours, i.e. up to 26 hours including the charging case. The case is charged either via USB-C or via wireless charging according to the Qi standard. A quick charge function charges the earbuds within 15 minutes for a playback time of one hour. The charging case weighs 39.5 grams, each earbud weighs 4.25 grams.

Bluetooth 5.2 and 6 mm driver

For the radio connection to the playback device, the Motif A.N.C. on bluetooth 5.2. Marshall does not give any details about the audio codecs. Instead, however, to the dynamic drivers with a diameter of 6 mm, which cover a frequency range from 20 to 20,000 Hz and have a sensitivity of 106 dB at 1 mW at 1 kHz.

IPX5 and IPX4 for earphones and case

The earphones are protected against water according to IPX5, so that rain or sweat does not affect them. The charging case does not come completely without protection against water and is certified according to IPX4.

The music or telephony is controlled via touch surfaces on the earphones. They can also be used to switch the ANC and the transparency mode on and off.

In addition to a USB-C charging cable, Marshall supplies silicone attachments in three sizes. The recommended retail price for the Marshall Motif A.N.C. is 199 euros and thus above that of Mode II (test) without ANC, which is 179 euros and represents the entry into the field of wireless in-ear headphones for Marshall. Marshall Minor III

AirPods design with BT 5.2 and aptX

The Minor III have an open-fit design, so they do not seal the ear with silicone attachments, but are only placed in the ear like the AirPods. They rely on dynamic 12 mm drivers with a sensitivity of 93 dB at 179 mV at 1 kHz and a frequency response of 20 to 20,000 Hz. At 4 grams, their weight is a little lighter. Bluetooth 5.2 is also used for the radio connection. SBC and aptX are offered as audio codecs. The Minor III are protected against splash water according to IPX4.

Wireless charging for up to 25 hours of playback

The battery life says Marshall with up to 5 hours, which can be extended to up to 25 hours via the charging box. A fast charging mode is also offered here, which provides energy for 1.5 hours of music playback after 15 minutes. The 40 gram charging case can also be charged via USB-C or wirelessly.

The Marshall Minor III comes on the market for 129 euros and is just like the Motif A.N.C. only available in black.
