The rumors have come true, the recommended retail price of the current Nintendo Switch has fallen. Instead of 329.99 euros, retailers are now asking 299.99 euros, which means that the price reduction is lower than many previously speculated, because 279.99 or even 269.99 euros were in the room.

Increase the distance to the switch OLED

Should retailers undercut the recommended retail price a little, as before, the price tag could soon be around 270 to 280 euros in free trade. A price of 300 euros has been reached before. Traditionally, Nintendo does not give official sales prices, but rather indicates that retailers set them. Given that sales figures continue to be very good, even around four years after the start of the Nintendo Switch, Nintendo has no reason to lower the price more significantly. The current price reduction is therefore also purely due to the upcoming launch of the new model, the Nintendo Switch OLED, on October 8th. The Nintendo Switch OLED is expected to go on sale in Germany for 350 euros – the gap to the current Switch would be too small at just 20 euros, which is why an adjustment has now been made.

Innovation of the Nintendo Switch OLED

As the name suggests, the new Switch OLED is based on an OLED display, which also has 6, 2 to 7 inches. The resolution remains unchanged at 1,280 × 720 pixels. The dimensions of the game console itself, including the Joy-Con controllers, are only marginally larger thanks to the narrower display bezels – the width has increased by 3 mm, all other dimensions are identical. However, the weight has increased from 398 to 420 grams – including the Joy-Con controller. The new Nintendo Switch OLED also offers a modified table mode with an exhibitor that extends over the entire width of the console, a LAN connection in the dock and 64 GB of internal storage. Contrary to all rumors, nothing has changed on the processor beforehand.
