The election campaign in Germany ahead of the federal elections at the end of September looks set to be violent.

On Saturdays, 15-20 left-wing extremists attacked members of the AFD during a non-public event in Hamburg. <./p>

According to Junge Freiheit, the perpetrators tried to reach Olga Petersen, a Russian immigrant who is running for the Bundestag for the party.

A party member was injured when he tried to protect Petersen from the left-wing extremists. According to Junge Freiheit, he suffered a brain injury and was hospitalized with a suspected concussion.

In August, left-wing extremists attacked another female AFD politician in Hamburg, Nicole Jordan. Due to the violence, the party has been forced to keep election rallies private and stay away from public places in Hamburg.
