Economics. The Governor of the Riksbank, Stefan Ingves, is “deeply concerned” about what may happen in the Swedish housing market in the future, he says. At the same time, monetary policy shows no signs of worry.

The statement comes from Bloomberg, which refers to Ingve's presentation during a banking conference in Stockholm, where the Swedish Governor said that the housing market and associated household debt will remain a cloud of concern at a structural level in Sweden.

– I have talked about the housing market since I started at the Riksbank, and I am deeply worried about it, he said.

In practice, however, Stefan Ingves has acted in an almost carefree manner in the housing market in the past year, when the Riksbank began to buy mortgage bonds directly from the banks. The stated goal has been to “secure the credit supply in the housing market”, ie to secure the high rate of loan growth and thus rising housing prices.

Ingves also said that bitcoin and similar cryptocurrencies will crash sometime in the future.
