With the JBL Reflect Flow Pro and the JBL Tune 130NC and 230NC, JBL is bringing three new in-ear headphones onto the market. The Reflect Flow Pro are the more expensive model with hybrid ANC, IP68 and six microphones, while the Tune 130NC and 230NC with ANC for 99 euros each are almost identical apart from their design.

JBL Reflect Flow Pro as flagship

As a flagship, the JBL Reflect Flow Pro relies on an improved ANC and six microphones, which are intended to ensure improved results with the ANC as well as telephony and the transparency mode, especially in windy conditions. With an IP68 certification, they are completely protected against dust and water and can also be submerged in salt water. The ear wings of the JBL Reflect Flow Pro should also ensure a firm hold during exercise. As with the silicone attachments, JBL also supplies different sizes for the ear wings. The Google Assistant or Amazon Alexa can be accessed without pressing a button using the respective activation words if the accounts have been linked via the JBL Headphones app. This can also be used to adjust the control.

When it comes to battery life, JBL specifies up to 30 hours, which is spread over 10 hours with one charge of the earphones and a further 20 hours with the charging case. ANC reduces the battery life of the earphones from 10 to 8 hours. The charging case can also be charged wirelessly according to the Qi standard. A quick charge function provides energy for another hour of music playback after 10 minutes. The charging case weighs 61.5 grams, each earphone a comparatively large 7.2 grams.

The dynamic drivers of the JBL Reflect Flow Pro measure 6.8 mm, Bluetooth 5.0 is used for the radio connection. Google Fast Pair is also supported for an easier coupling process from Android 6.0. The frequency response is 20 to 20,000 Hz, the sensitivity is 100 dB SPL at 1 kHz and the maximum sound pressure level is 94 dB. JBL does not provide any information about the supported audio codecs.

The JBL Reflect Flow Pro will be available from October 2021 on JBL.com for 179 euros in black, blue, white and pink available.

JBL Tune 230NC and 130NC

Outwardly, the Tune 130NC and 230NC differ in that the Tune 130NC are based on an earbud design, while the Tune 230NC are based on a stick design. JBL would like to meet the different preferences of buyers and give everyone their preferred design to choose from. The two new models are the successors to the JBL Tune 125 TWS and JBL Tune 225 TWS, but now also offer active noise suppression.

Technically, they are not completely identical, because the Tune 230NC use dynamic drivers with a diameter of 5.8 mm, while the Tune 130NC use dynamic drivers with a diameter of 10 mm. The frequency response is identical with 20 to 20,000 Hz, but the sensitivity of 105 dB SPL at 1 kHz to 103 dB SPL at 1 kHz and the maximum sound pressure level of 95 to 93 dB are also slightly different. On the other hand, Bluetooth 5.2 is identical for radio transmission and the support of Google Fast Pair as well as a transparency mode in addition to active noise suppression.

The battery life is also identical with up to 10 hours without and 8 hours with ANC. Up to 30 hours without ANC and 24 hours with ANC are added via the charging case, so that the two wireless in-ear headphones can, in the best case, be used for up to 40 hours on the go. A quick charge function enables one hour of music playback with 10 minutes of loading time.
