Intel has received initial commitments from the US government for the use of the new foundry from 2025. That was one of the big goals of Intel, which is exactly why the taxpayers act as one of the big sponsors through the government – they want to know the production of sensitive technology in their own country.

Today, Intel explicitly names the production level Intel 18A, which, however, is still years in the future and should see the light of day at the earliest in 2025. How far Intel will be used in the future, however, depends on the results of the multi-stage program alias Rapid Assured Microelectronics Prototypes – Commercial (RAMP-C). The program aims to ensure that the US defense industry gets the chips it needs. Last year, Intel had already received a packaging contract from the Ministry of Defense.

Qualcomm has received commitments from the US government as a further party, and Qualcomm in turn wants to take a closer look at Intel's manufacturing technology from Intel 20A. In the end, it would come from the same source one way or another, as requested by the Pentagon.
