On 7 August 2020, two men were arrested in a coordinated operation in Stockholm and Eskilstuna. One man was arrested in southern Stockholm on suspicion of, among other things, attempted aggravated rape of a child. In their work, the police used provocation and infiltration as well as secret coercive measures.
– By infiltrating a number of individuals, the police have been able to carry out a raid and obtain sufficient evidence for prosecution. The fact that these two people were arrested, detained and later arrested has also led to several other people being suspected and then convicted of serious sexual crimes against children in other parts of Sweden, says Christer Nilsson, head of the investigation unit, Noa, the Police Authority.
The police in the East region arrested another man in Eskilstuna the same day. A house search found a very extensive amount of abuse material – about 1.1 million files containing documented sexual abuse of children, of which more than 135,000 films with a total playing time of over 1,000 hours.
The two men had had contact with each other on Darknet, where the man from Eskilstuna had a high-profile role on various forums dedicated to handling abusive material.
“Without the infiltration effort, the serious crime we are now prosecuting for would not have been discovered,” says chamber prosecutor Emelie Källfelt, who is the head of the preliminary investigation.

The two men have been in custody since August last year and now they are being prosecuted. The men are charged on several occasions with aggravated rape of a child and aggravated sexual abuse of a child, as well as for stamping and attempted aggravated rape of a child against one man's two small children.
The man from the Stockholm area is also charged with several aggravated rape of children and aggravated sexual abuse of children, aggravated exploitation of children for sexual posing and aggravated child pornography offense. The man from Eskilstuna is also charged with a serious child pornography offense.
