With Windows 11, Microsoft deletes the appointments and events from the calendar in the system tray and stores them permanently in the corresponding widget in the taskbar. After the release of Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 22000.160, some users asked themselves when they would be installed.

Appointments migrate from the system Tray in the widget

In the meantime, Microsoft has announced via the official Twitter account of its Windows Insider program @windowsinsider that appointments and events will only be available in the new calendar widget.

The “old” calendar on the right in the system tray of the taskbar will still only be able to display the calendar, the days of the week and the date in Windows 11. The support for appointments and events in the old calendar has been removed.

The option to quickly create an appointment, as was possible via the Windows 10 calendar, will no longer be available under Windows 11. For this, the app “Calendar” or, if available, Microsoft Outlook must be used.

Microsoft introduces the new clock app

As part of the new so-called “Windows Web Experience Packs”, Microsoft particularly wants to expand the feature set of the widgets. In a small teaser, Microsoft also presented the new clock app, which was rolled out with the current Insider Preview.

In-house apps more and more in 64-bit

In addition, Microsoft continues to make progress in removing 32-bit apps from Windows 11 so that in the future, as many built- in apps can be conveniently updated via the Microsoft Store. With the build 22000.132, the new Snipping Tool was recently rolled out, which has also been removed from the “System32” folder.
