With CutefishOS, a new Linux distribution based on the popular free operating system Ubuntu with an independent desktop is under development. This is what the editor and Linux developer Ferdinand Thommes, who is also known from ComputerBase, reports on the Linux News website.

The simple desktop borrows clearly from the Chinese distribution deepin well-known deepin Desktop Environment (DDE), MATE and JingOS and was written in C ++ and the QML belonging to the free GUI toolkit Qt. KWin, known from the modular desktop KDE Plasma, serves as a window manager and Wayland compositor.
