Plex once started as an app to play your own collection of movies and music, but now there is also its own Plex streaming service with free movies (with advertisements). To play all this content on your television, you can use the Apple TV app. In recent years, the app has been refreshed regularly, but the latest update gives you more choice than ever. With the new Content Layout option, you decide how the app looks.
Plex for Apple TV: determine your own design
In a new blog, the makers explain the new possibilities and the origin of the functions. Users could sign up for the experimental features, from which the creators got feedback. Ultimately, a number of different settings were chosen. With Content Layout you can choose between Modern and Classic. This allows you to determine the layout of, among other things, the start screen and the information screen of films and series. With Modern, you'll see previews of the selected movie on the home page at the top of the background, while Classic only shows a grid of movies and series. The same goes for the details screen: Modern shows a shot from the movie, Classic shows the movie poster.

You can also choose the background color of the app, both on the home screen and in the details screen. You can choose colors for the artwork, so the background adapts to the selected film or series. In the details screen you can also choose to show the artwork of the film or series dimmed in the background.
