SVT Nyheter Gävleborg received criticism earlier this summer for its “examination of racism” in healthcare.
Among other things, Marwa Karim, a former campaign leader for SSU who is known for finding “racism” everywhere, without critical counter-questions tell of various more or less incredible racist attacks that she claimed to have been subjected to. However, SVT did not mention anything about Marwa Karim's political background as a left-wing activist, but only called her a “nurse”.
In a response to critics on Facebook, SVT states afterwards that white people can not be exposed to racism.
“We report on people's experiences and people with a foreign background have interpretive precedence in terms of racism, as it is a phenomenon that does not affect white people – they can not be racist”, writes SVT in a post, according to Samnytt.
The post on Facebook has been written by SVT's reporter Lina Abusagr, who has been involved as a “veil activist”.
– I and my responsible publisher are behind it, says Lina Abusagr about the wording to Samnytt .
