Storage in iPhone 13 models: what to expect

iPhone 13 storage: these are the expectations

When buying a new iPhone, there are always three things to consider: which iPhone model suits me, what color do I want and how much storage do I need. The amount of storage is especially important, because you cannot just change this afterwards. For the iPhone 13, which Apple will announce in September, it is not yet officially known how much storage is in it. But there have been some rumors and based on previous years we can give a good prediction about the iPhone 13 storage and how much RAM will be in the iPhone 13 Pro.

For the standard iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini, we do not expect any changes compared to last year. Apple has been using 64GB as entry-level storage for a few years now and that is actually enough for many people. For €50 more you can double this to 128GB. Since prices will also remain the same, we are most confident with predictions of these models.

Storage RAM iPhone 13 mini
(5.4-inch) • 64GB (€809)
• 128GB (+ €50)
• 256GB (+ €170) 4GB iPhone 13
(6.1-inch) • 64GB (€909)
• 128GB (+ €50)
• 256GB (+ €170) 4GB iPhone 13 Pro
(6.1 inch) • 128GB (€1,159)
• 256GB (+ €120)
• 512GB (+ €350)
• 1TB (+ €790) 6GB iPhone 13 Pro Max
(6.7-inch) • 128GB (€1,259)
• 256GB (+ €120)
• 512GB (+ €350)
• 1TB (+ €790) 6GB

All prices, storage capacities and working memory are based on rumors and are therefore not final.

That is different with the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max. Apple would release an iPhone with 1TB storage for the first time, analysts previously predicted. But there are also analysts who doubt this. 1TB sounds like a lot of storage for a mobile device, but it is not very strange. Apple has also been offering 1TB on the iPad Pro for a few years and has even added a 2TB option this year. The latter will certainly not be the case with the iPhone 13 Pro, but 1TB is certainly not a bad idea.

The prices for the 1TB models are based on the price difference that Apple uses for the iPad Pro . It also starts at 128GB, making it a good comparison.

iPhone 13 memory

The working memory, or the amount of RAM, in the iPhone 13 models, will probably remain the same. In the standard versions, that is 4GB, which is more than enough thanks to the cooperation between hardware and software. The first three versions of the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max will also most likely retain the same amount of RAM as last year, i.e. 6GB.

If there is indeed a 1TB iPhone 13 Pro, there is a good chance that Apple will also add more RAM. Apple has put twice as much RAM in the 1TB and 2TB iPad Pro as in the other variants, so there is a chance that we will also get this in the 1TB iPhone 13 Pro. That would mean that Apple would put 12GB of RAM in it, although there are no concrete indications or rumors about this yet. However, apps in iOS 15 will have access to more RAM than was originally possible. By default, that is still 5GB (so more than enough for all iPhones), but in iOS 15 this will be increased to an unknown maximum.
