Volkswagen ID.4 has started its ride well because & eacute; in the first half of this year already has surpassed the sales of ID.3, a car that had several months of advantage and that can count on a higher price; Bass.
The merit of this success compared to the younger sister is not; to be read only in the bodywork (ID.4 is an SUV and therefore capitalizes on the fashion of the moment), but also in the design that is more evident; digestible according to traditional tastes and less extreme than ID.3.
& Egrave; harmony in general to be gained: both VW electric cars have a similar style, from the cut of the headlamps to the sweetness of the lines, but the ID.3 looks like a mixture of body variants (a bit small minivan, a bit # 39; hatchback and so on), while the ID.4 immediately declares more shapes and proportions; close to what customers are used to.

Despite this, compared to the Audi Q4 e-tron and Skoda Enyaq iV sisters, the ID.4 remains the less traditional one, especially in the interior. But let's go in order and see what are its pros and cons of her, aware that, being a proof, the main focus will be; on charging and consumption tests since the other features are already; been & quot; comb through & quot; in the preview.

INTERNAL: DISCUSSIBLE CHOICES
The minimalism of the interior can & ograve; not everyone's liking and this also applies to some style lapses. We never have bad assemblies, although a two-week trial cannot be conclusive in predicting what will happen; in 3 or 4 years at the level of creaks, but the feeling remains that plastics are an element on which we & egrave; went to save.
Skoda does better in some details, Audi has from its some refinement in more; in design and ID.4 & egrave; the one to choose for those looking for an interior that stands out more than in the past.
The price to pay for & ograve; that of some style drops: the roller shutter that covers the central cockpit & egrave; less cared for than other competitors, including Tesla (the much criticized Tesla).
On the other hand, the compartments are intelligent and modular: here is the experience of a builder that knows what you need on the go and in everyday use. Large drawers and compartments, a huge wireless charging mat and finally suitable for any smartphone, comfortable USB C sockets for no cables in the front and so on.
Great job also for the rear area, where you can have two USB , air vents and independent controls of the third zone of the climate control , and for the boot which has many adjustment options thanks to the modular top.

Is not serious; short, however, the list of questionable choices: the glossy black in the doors is not; just the best considering that & egrave; more prone to scratches, especially if you transport the most & ugrave; children and their toys.
The crystal controls use only two keys that change function through a third touch command with null tactile feedback : making a mistake will be & agrave; frequent.
REFILL TEST
The charging options for ID.4 are good but not great , nothing to do with the potential in terms of DC charging that others have shown off. Without going into the 800 volt architecture, Tesla proved that with a “ traditional '' system. at 400 volts you can reach 250 kW peak without any problem if you have a good technical base.
Audi (on the e-tron GT) and Porsche, then, use the 800 v platform so & igrave; like IONIQ 5 and take advantage of the MEB architecture that this ID.4 shares with ID.3, Q4 e-tron, Enyaq and so on. Despite this, sometimes a car that loads well at 125kW can be better than one that charges & quot; bad & quot; to 150 kW. & Egrave; it is essential, in fact, to talk about the charging curve: the more it is; the car manages to keep the high power, the better its performance.
And Volkswagen ID.4, in this, does very well. The curve is quite flattened and maintains a power higher than 100 kW up to 50% of the charge in our test at the IONITY column. The performance is also excellent when approaching 80% where, however, the power at stake is; on acceptable levels and the battery air conditioning system manages the temperatures well.
ln alternating current we have the usual possibilities: 7.4 kW single-phase or 11 kW three-phase (8 hours for a full), 3.7 kW at home and the mode; & quot; AC charging current limitation & quot; which is needed for when you connect to a system a little more old or to manually limit the absorption and leave space in the house for the washing machine or other appliances. The car has only one option (limiting on or off) and corresponds to 8 Ampere, 1.8 kW .
CONSUMPTION TEST: IL BRIANZA RING < img src = "/wp-content/uploads/007145c6de10186b03228a0ee42f7104.jpg" />
With the aim of having an even more standard of comparison; objective, with this test the Brianza Ring was born, a circuit designed to test the consumption of different models and to do so in a scenario as much as possible; varied as possible. A little of highway just to loosen the muscles, then you climb towards the hills between cities & agrave; and extra-urban and return to the starting point between state roads and ring road.
The traditional surveys then show an autonomy of about 350 km in highway at 115 km/h and 310 km with adaptive cruise control at 130 km/h (25 kWh/100 km with two people and active climate control). The average of the test, between motorway, extra-urban and city, is; was about 20 kWh/100 km, the equivalent of 380 kilometers of range with one recharge.
As usual, the data are subject to significant variations depending on the driving style. Just look at the result of the test in the Brianza Ring that allows ID.4 to reach almost 480 km of autonomy with a recharge .
HOW MUCH IT COST AND WHICH TO CHOOSE
Volkswagen already has; suggested how to recommend the ideal ID.4 version according to your needs; because & eacute; divides the range into Pure and Pro. Pro means having 77 kWh net of battery and the 204 HP engine, Pure means & quot; being satisfied & quot; of 52 kWh of battery and 170 HP.
Clearly the Pure is the preferred choice only if you don't have long and frequent trips in mind . Based on the consumptions detected, it offers 260 km of autonomy in mixed use and in the city; it consumes very little: without ring roads, you risk making up to 500 kilometers in the use of home-school-shopping and work. It costs 43,800 & euro; and with the incentives and scrapping (as long as there are) it drops to 33,360 & euro ;.
ID.4 Pro under construction Life starts from 49,900 & euro; (€ 39,460 with EcoBonus) and has a good standard equipment: electric heated, adjustable and foldable rear-view mirrors, athermic side windows, heated windscreen, full LED, ambient lights, armrests, heated seats, heated leather steering wheel, height-adjustable driver seat and many ADAS. Among these, the limiter, adaptive cruise, automatic braking with pedestrian recognition, vehicles and cyclists, front and rear sensors, lane keeping, car2x, monitoring of road signs and driver fatigue.
VOLKSWAGEN ID.4 ONLINE CONFIGURATOR
The standard charger is; from 11 kW, there are Apple CarPlay and Android Auto wireless along with USB, induction charging, keyless, navigator, light and rain sensors, DAB + and even the anti-freeze wiper nozzles. If you are satisfied … well, otherwise things like the rear view camera, full level 2 semi-autonomous driving and heat pump you pay, and not a little.
