Crucial SSDs: P5 Plus available, P5 drops in price

The recently introduced Crucial P5 Plus NVMe SSD is now available in stores. The prices of the first PCIe 4.0 SSD from Crucial are still close to the manufacturer's specifications. At the same time, the expiring predecessor P5 falls significantly in price, which could mark the start of sales.

The Crucial is available at prices from around 110 euros, 180 euros and 370 euros P5 Plus (test) has now also arrived in online retail and is available from stock at some retailers. The versions with 1 TB and 2 TB storage volume therefore cost the equivalent of 18 or 19 cents per gigabyte, which corresponds roughly to the price level of the Samsung 980 Pro (test) and Corsair MP600 Pro (test). The WD Black SN850 (test) is currently slightly in the front at 15 cents and 17 cents for 1 TB and 2 TB.

Predecessor P5 falls partly in price

In an interview with ComputerBase, Crucial had already revealed that the older Crucial P5 (test) with PCIe 3.0 will be discontinued in the course of the year. The 1 TB model last cost 130 euros, but is available from 90 euros * as of today. It remains to be seen whether the drastic price reduction in online retail will start selling. The other variants with 250 GB, 500 GB and 2 TB still cost about as much as last week.
